Shamanic Healing Work/Ceremonies~

Shamanism references a range of beliefs and practices with regard to communication with the spiritual world, common to indigenous cultures around the world.  Shamans act as intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds, and are said to treat ailments/illness by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul/spirit restores the physical body of the individual to balance and wholeness, which results in the elimination of the ailment. The shaman also enters supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the individual and/or community.  A tradition of Shamanism is found in most indigenous cultures, and as a healing modality, includes Shamanic Journeywork (which I also teach individually and in group classes), soul retrieval, de-possession, psychopomp services, and plant spirit medicine.   In addition to healing maladies of the individual, Shamanic services/practices provide support on a spiritual and emotional level during surgeries, births, and the loss of loved ones. The clearing and blessing of spaces is also a Shamanic practice, and a service I offer, as well as ceremonies to mark significant individual, family, or community events or milestones.

I have studied with a number of Shamans/Shamanic practitioners in various areas of the country, but perhaps most notably, I completed the Applied Shamanism program at the Foundation of the Sacred Stream (San Francisco, CA).

A shamanic healing session or ceremony is very much tailored to the individual needs of the person requesting it, and as such, each session/ceremony is completely different.  Generally, when I am contacted for Shamanic services, I simply ask the spirits what that session/ceremony should look like and entail, and progress accordingly.  There is no set fee for Shamanic services – they are offered on a donation basis, from a philosophy of “fair trade”.

I also offer classes in Shamanic Journeywork and other shamanic practices and skills.  For more information on individual or group classes, please see “Classes” or contact me.
